| The power cable is the main transmission tools in electric power system. With the increasinglyhigh demand for electric power, the cable get more pressure. The fire accidents caused by high loadcarrying or the aging of cable, have a serious impact the safety of people. A reliable online real-timetemperature measurement system is needed for real-time monitoring the temperature inside thecable, to minimize the harm. This paper presents a new method to monitor the temperature insidethe cable with A new Optical Fiber Composite Low-voltage Cable(OPLC). The temperature fieldinside OPLC with different fill materials is discussed to get the best one.The main content of this paper is as follows:(1)Through research on several common cable online real-time monitoring methods, It is foundthat using fiber to monitor the temperature inside OPLC is a effective solution.(2)This paper introduces the principle of different solutions of using fiber to monitor thetemperature inside OPLC. and compares their advantages and disadvantages.(3)This paper introduces the basic calculation theory of the cable temperature field.(4)Comsol software is used to simulate the cable. When the cable doesn't work well , the resultsshow that the temperature of the inner sheath layer increases obviously, while the temperature ofouter sheath layer doesn't change much. The best position for ROTDR is the space between theouter sheath layer and the insulating layer of the conductor. To the fill materials, the value ofcoefficient of thermal conductivity the higher the better. |
