Abstract: In early 2008, the severe sleety weather affected most area of Zhejiang province, which resulted in rope cable and lattice tower collapsing because of the severe icing to the transmission line. By analyzing the causations of the disaster, the main problem is actual ice-coating is much thicker than that of design and the main reason for tower collapse is longitudinal unbalanced tension caused by great difference of span, angle of height and inequable ice-coating. In order to repair the damaged transmission line in short period, the repair scheme is proposed by newly erecting the tower parts of which was reinforced and line after removing the damaged transmission line and tower. By taking some research on above area, the paper supplies references for avoiding such similar disaster and makes recommendations for rush repair management.
