As more requirements for building energy efficiency, the thermal bridge by mortar joint in the proportion of the energy consumption of aerated concrete masonry can not be neglected. Currently, thickness of mortar joint of aerated concrete masonry in our country is mostly from 10mm to 15mm, this thickness is not conducive to wall insulation. The aerated concretes with different thickness of mortar joint are conducted by experiment in this paper. It is supposed to help to the promotion and the application of thin mortar joint masonry in the future.The compressive strength of aerated concrete masonry is increased as the decrease of the thickness of mortar joint. And based on the experiment, the formula to thickness of mortar joint and compressive strength is suggested in this paper. The elastic modulus calculated from experiment is smaller than other masonries, and also smaller than indicators from specification. The shearing strength is reduced as the decrease of the thickness of mortar joint. The thermal performance of aerated concrete masonry is calculated, and the influence coefficient of masonry affected by mortar joint is suggested in the paper too, it is proved that thin mortar joint can raise the wall insulation.Different sizes of block and indicators of mortar are required by thin mortar joint, and the new structural measure is discussed in the paper.Finally, aerated concrete masonry crack affected by mortar joint is theoretically analyzed, stress distribution and crack tendency are simply simulated by ANSYS.
