With the rapid development of modern weapons'technology,large surface warships are playing an increasingly important role in modern war. Warships will inevitably detected by enemy's radar system in battle, therefore the warships'stealth is crucial. As an important part of stealth, the mast is often placed at the highest postiton in warship's structure.The stealth performance of the mast is directly rfalated to the warship's stealth. Because of the mast's good stealth performance,the mast form has been adopted in modern mast design to freatly improve the warship's stealth effect. This paper aims to study the closed resin base composite material mast's stiffness and strength and provide a basis for design.In this paper, an optimized design is put forward based on theoretical analysis and numerical calculation method. Taking resin base composite mast structure as an example, the design of the skin and core material's thickness as well as the study of the effect of stiffness and strength characteristics of different thickness are involved:A systematic overview of the status quo and future development of composite mast home and abroad and the elaboration on the direction of further research in our country are done to lay a foundation for the follow-up study.Based on the finite element analysis method, the author uses ANSYS software to establish the finite element model of composite mast, selects the appropriate parameter properties and mesh division, encloses composite mast boundary conditions, and determines the external load of closed composite mast by combining the military regulations and the given numerical results so as to provide the basis for later loading.Then the paper puts forward a plan for the special structure design of the enclosed mast composite laminates. It checks the strength and stiffness of composite mast's composite and steel materials by using finite element software and related strength criterion comprehensively, analyzes and then sums up its characteristics, identifies the thickness of combined composite material plate which meets the requirements, in order to achieve the optimized design of composite mast design, validate the feasibility of the design and provides references for future studies. The analysis results of composite strength in this paper provide the reference for the study on integrated mast's design for the large destroyers, light frigates and warships, and have far-reaching significance for improving our warship's stealth technology and the design of composite mast.
