As the progress of human society, people's ability in coping with various unexpected disasters improves. Then disasters, whether natural or man-made, are on the rise as to environmental pollution, population's sharply increasing, the acceleration of urbanization and industrialization etc. Disasters are inevitable, but effective designs could burden the risks of disaster for people. As people's understanding of disasters deepens, preventing and reducing disasters become indispensable measures in our daily life. Products applying these measures involves not only specific products for emergency, especially emergency-use for people indoor, but also daily households which also become powerful tools for people to deal with and control disasters. However, many daily households do not meet the professional standards for emergency-use, also these products receive quite a low popularity, need relevant knowledge to maintain and employ, and become difficulty to operate. These two types of products, specific tools and daily households, are in common in their functions, materials, shapes. If we analyses these two types of products and redesign them, by reasonably integrating their common natures in emergency-use, it would be of positive meanings in developing and designing relative products. This paper firstly tasks in summarizing and inducing the causes, courses and impacts of various disasters, also combined with the scientific analysis of psychological arid behavioral characteristics of people suffered the disasters. Secondly, by researching the inter-relations between human, products, disasters, and environment, we realize comparative analysis and assessment of the usability in indoor emergency of specific tools and daily households, and we summarize the relations between these two types of products and the main factor influencing their usability. Thirdly, the paper holds cases' study in current indoor emergency products, summarizes their advantages and disadvantages, and makes comprehensive study combining the methods of Integrated Design and the principle of Usability. Finally, the researching methods and fruits are gathered to guide the proposal of practice design.
