As the main power source, the internal combustion engine is used in various fields more extensive. With more requirements of human-being's life quality, the importance of controlling the internal combustion engine's vibration prominent increasingly. Mastering excitation source and its vibration characteristics, simulation and optimizing using computers is one of the most effective methods to predict and control the internal combustion's vibration. This paper studied on the type of 620V16 diesel engine produced by Henan diesel factory. Frequency domain vibration is simulated and calculated by finite element method. It analyzed the weakness of structure and assesses the feasibility of research method. The finite element model of 620V16 diesel engine was established based on actual size and predigested the model reasonably. The whole machine model was modified according to the results of modal test. Based on the theory of internal combustion engine dynamic, the forces working on cylinder head, the pump liner and main bearing were calculated. And then had the three driving forces mentioned above and the valve seated force which had been calculated FFT transformed. Then had the whole finite model analyzed in frequency domain after applying each kind of forces on the certain position. The simulation results were compared with the results gotten from the engine vibration test, in order to verify the reliability of calculation method. The results showed that the simulation results could accurately reflect the situation of vibration in low frequency. Magnitude of the results matched well. However there were gaps on the amplitudes. In the high frequency band, the simulation results could not go well with the experimental data. According to the analysis results, the finite analysis in frequency domain could predict the vibration situation of diesels. And then analyzed the vibration caused by each kind of forces separately. The results showed that the vibration of every component caused by the combustion which includes cylinder pressure and main bearing force was the most intense. The vibration caused by valve seated force was followed. The side thrust of piston came last.
