With the continuous development of the automotive industry, people pay more attention to the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) of vehicles. Automotive engine intake noise, as one of the main sources of vehicle noise, has become the element which can not be ignored to control noise and improve vehicle NVH property. In this paper, the noise of a passenger car intake system is for the study, through digital simulation and engineering experiments, improved the design of the intake system, and achieved satisfactory results.In this paper, the engine intake system of the new developing car is for the study. Did structure modal analysis of the main parts of intake system with Hypermesh and Nastran, and did sound modal analysis of intake system with Virtual Lab Acoustic, and predicted the transmission loss of the air filter, and thus we could initially realize the characteristics of the original intake system. On the basis, with the method of sound pressure level measurements to get the data of the intake orifice noise and the interior noise of vehicle, and then find out the problems of intake noise and its effect on interior sound. According to the data of the intake orifice noise, the characteristics of the source of noise have been realized. With the result of the simulation of the intake system, the intake noise would be controlled by adding a specific muffler on the intake pipe, so as to improve the interior sound.
