In some manufacturing fields such as the production of airplanes, vehicle, ships, clothes, and toys, complex surface flattening technology has been wildly applied in the design and calculate of the blank. Research complex surface flattening technology and its algorithm, and realize the flattening of the surface with high precision, get blanks with more accurate shape and size finally is a difficult problem in manufacturing. Automotive glass surface is a typical hyperbolic A-level complex surface, its increasingly complex surface modeling and special material molding process make the production of automobile glass blank harder. According to the automotive glass surface and its geometric features, the curve mapping flattening method is proposed in this paper, the automotive glass surface flattening system is developed, and automotive glass blank is created automatically.Firstly, kinds of complex surface flattening methods and their related content are studied; the geometric features of automation glass surface are analyzed; its hot-bend forming and current situation are introduced. Based on of those, the curve mapping flattening method in accordance with the principle of constant area is advanced, which is used to flatten some unclosed symmetrical surface with small curvatures accurately and facilely.Secondly, the implementation procedure of automation glass surface flattening system is researched deeply including system principles, overall design process, key technologies, system optimization methods etc.. The key technologies include surface modeling and reconstruction, surface intersection, calculation of arc length, mapping principle, curve interpolation, second development of CATIA etc..With the above technologies, two means are adopted to realize the flattening of automotive glass surface. One of them, automation glass surface flattening system is developed in platform of Microsoft Visual C++ and OpenGL, which includs surface modeling and reconstruction module, surface fattening module, and display module. The other one, the CATIA is second developed by Visual Basic and Automation Technology to realize the flattening of automation glass surface.The flattening results show that:automation glass surface flattening system based on the curve mapping flattening method is able to flatten automation glass surface with high accuracy; the flattening results can fully satisfy the project need without crack, lamination, rollover; and the method is easy, efficient and fast to carry out.
