The development of rotary air preheater seal technology from gapped seal to contact seal makes a major contribution to reducing air leakage rate of rotary air preheater as well as improving the thermal efficiency of boiler. According to the dimensions of space installed seal in preheater, engineering samples of rotary air preheater contact seal are designed and created. Both experimental test and numerical calculation of finite element methods are carried out to measure the stiffness of engineering samples. And fluorocarbon coatings and engineering ceramics are used to enhance corrosion and wear resistance performance of contact seal respectively. Experiments and theoretic-cal studies on process of spraying and metal-ceramic bonding were executed to solve the practical problems encountered in implementation of the program.Due to the shortcomings of hinge-spring seals applied on rotary air preheater currently, a optimized elastic contact seal structure of rotary air preheater is designed. A series of simulative experiments are designed and executed to confirm the numerical relationship between air-smoke pressure and acting force of cylindrical helical tension spring that is the core component of elastic contact seal. With the help of mechanic design theory, the dimensions of cylindrical helical tension spring are calculated on the basis of simulative experimental conclusions. The software of finite element analysi-s is used to calculate the structural strength of cylindrical helical tension spring applied static and transient loads. Vibration of piping is prevalent in the petrochemical enterprises, but using of viscous damper is limited because of high temperature fluids transpo-rted by piping. A novel type of damper for petrochemical high temperature piping -- metal frictional damper is designed and created on the basis of frictional energy consumption. Simplified dry friction damping model is created to calculate the equivalent friction damping coefficient. The structural strength of metal frictional damper is analysed and optimized by using of the software of finite element analysis. The damping characteristic and mechanis-m of the metal frictional damper is identified by damping vibration experime-nt of piping. Finally, the practical application of the metal frictional damper on industrial piping has achieved notable results.
