The glide bomb is a precision guidance munition with stand-off ability bymounting the range extension kit and the guidance kit to the commonbomb. Nowadays, the glide bomb series are being developed by the U.S.A.,the Europe, the Israel, the South Africa etc. Some Chinese institutes arestudying the glide bomb too. Limited by the guidance mode, the glidebomb has the disadvantages such as the low precision, easy to be interferedwhich can be remedied by mounting a terminal seeker. It's also theupgrading trend for the glide bomb.In this paper, the strapdown infrared imaging seeker was chosen to meetthe glide bomb's requests including low cost and ability to attack the fixedground targets.Mounting a seeker will change the aerodynamic character of the glidebomb which will influence the overall character of the glide bomb. In thispaper, the zero-lift drag coefficient, the normal force coefficient and thelongitudinal static stability of the bomb with a seeker mounted werecalculated, which ware compared with the original data of the bombwithout a seeker. The overall characters were simulated according to thecalculation result of the aerodynamic of the bomb. The two key aspects that can influence the operational effectiveness whichwere the trajectory design and the acquisition probability were studied inthis paper to guarantee the operational effectiveness can be improved bymounting the terminal seeker to the glide bomb. The trajectory planningand the guidance law were particularly designed to make sure the glidebomb can hit the target accurately in every limit. The calculation andanalysis of the weapon system error and the acquisition probability provedthat the acquisition probability can meet the request.The6-DOF mode of the bomb was established and the overall characterswere simulated. The result indicated that the characters of the glide bombincluding the guidance precision, the maximum release distance and theterminal acquisition probability etc. can meet the overall request. The thesis work was summarized and the further work was expected in theend of the thesis.
