With the development of communication technology and media tools and the acceleration of communication speed, the communication modes has developed from single to complex. Affected by this, the cognitive abilities and "reading" habits have gone from passive type to active mode. Meanwhile, cognitive attention and esthetic needs have also undergone a shift. It is noteworthy that this phenomenon was accompanied by morphological shift of information dissemination of cultural art as the mass media, which includes the architecture. In the information era, the communication modes of mass media is affected by attention pattern. Accordingly, architecture, as the mass media, its external image and construction methods of the internal scene also changes.On the basis of contrast between Spiral of Silence and architectural design in different eras, this essay will take Expo building as the main research subject, which is a typical architectural case of propagation characteristics and media function. This essay will summarize the changes of methods of pavilion building design and the contents of dissemination under the condition of historic evolution of communication technologies and pattern features. After a large amount of research into Expo architecture examples from 1851 until now, this essay will the analyse the contemporary economy, architecture skills, media patterns, audience cognition, characteristics of other forms of arts, social cultural background and so on. In addition, the essay will try to summarize the evolution laws of design methods of architect and audience understanding and acceptance tendency of Expo architecture, the mass media, under the perspective of evolution of traditional mode. Under this basis, this essay will list and summarize in details the external image and the design elements and methods of internal space and scene construction .
