Electrostatic discharge of automotive fuel pipe is very important as the static charge will be a source of ignition if it isn't discharged in time. The traditional measure is bonding the conducting metal fuel pipe to the engine and the body so that they are at the same electrical potential as the earth.Nonconductive fuel pipe has a nylon surface around the metal pipe to meet the need of the corrosion prevention.Nonconductive fuel pipe is more complex than con -ductive pipe in charge accumulation and charge dissipation.Old principle and experi -ments do not meet the need. It is must pay attention when electrostatic discharge of nonconductive fuel pipe is designed. This thesis introduces a new way.Peeling part of the nonconductive fuel pipe and adding a conductive shrinkable tube, so the nonconductive pipe is bonded to the body by a ground clip. This thesis fingers out the design of new parts, the data gained from field meter and gives the analysis .The thesis also explains the electrostatic discharge of fuel pipe by the thermodynamic of dielectric systemand. This thesis concludes that the experiment and the material of shrinkable tube an -d conductive clip are the keys for the continuity of the ground path on different conditions. The use of field meter fingers out the field entity varies with temperature. This thesis calculates the electrostatic energy of fuel pipe based on the dielectric physics and the thermodynamic of dielectric systemand, it takes the relaxation time of electrostatic discharge as the measure interval. This thesis obtains different electric field entity in three assembly temperature of fuel pipeand calcutales the electrostatic energy in different temperature. At last, it concludes that only when th electrostatic discharge energy is smaller than the lowest ignition energy can the fuel pipe be far away from ignition.
