With the enhancement of economy and progress of aerospace technology in our country, there will be more and more missions of aircraft. At the same time, the development of aircraft promoting system and the use of new material increase the dimensions of the fairing and reduce their overall stiffness. The employing status becomes more complex during flight and separation.On the other hand, the traditional design method of using safety factor which is determinate, has not taken the stochastic nature in the real process, such as material mechanical properties dimensions and working conditions into account. There will be some blindness, and sometimes they are uneconomical and unreasonable when these methods are used in aircraft design. Considering the above, based on dynamics and finite element theory, this paper studies the static and dynamic characteristics of fairing, separation process and strength reliability.Firstly, this paper introduces the structure and working process of fairing and discusses the construction course of finite element model for the static and dynamic analysis. It also provides the simplification of model and the influence of meshing on solution process and computational results.Secondly, the employing characteristics of fairing under the action of aerodynamic force, natural vibration characteristics and response under the action of dynamic load are provided after the analysis of the static and dynamic characteristics of fairing which is based on elasticity and elastodynamic theory and use the finite element method.Thirdly, based on the dynamics theory of the flexible multibody system the separation process of fairing is simulated, in which dynamic response is presented and the coupling effect between the flexible body deformation and its large overall motion and the influence on the aircraft's flight status are discussed.At last, according to the statistical distribution in mechanical properties, such as Young's modulus, Poisson ratio, density and ultimate strength and using stochastic finite element method the paper analyzes strength reliability of fairing under the action of static load, and recognizes the significant random input and their sensitive data.
