According to the current situation that most kind of automobile engine box were taken off-line random testing and the key technology of on-line detection, after the analysis of precision index and geometrical tolerances, the on-line testing model has been made by us. According to the model:①double array CCD have been used to calibrate the positioning pin holes;②image processing measurement method based on linear CCD has been determined;③automatic control method in which grating control scanning step distance has been adopted to improve the accuracy of image collection;④image edge extraction algorithm has been used to realize automatic fast testing;⑤designed mechanical structure of the instrument which can be set and work in the production line. After the debugging and operation on the spot, the connect holes in the surface can be tested, and the results show that the system is effective and rapid precise measurement can be achieved.According to the modern automobile industry situation for the detection, measurement field put forward further measuring demand, according to the measurement requirements the existing measurement system is improved①using three-dimensional linear displacement and rotation displacement structure to realize rapid simple measurement of shape and position error of engine body six side holes②improve the detection efficiency by using visual technology, to realize automatic measurement and data output③the flexible positioning base holes and hole center line coordinate method, improves the overall accuracy. The improved measuring instrument for position measurement, meet the modern needs of industry, will broad market prospects.
