Reinforced concrete structure is commonly used in building structure. The deficiency of bearing capacity of structure incurred by the fault in design, construction or the overdue service of the buildings is common occurrences. Reinforcements are necessary to ensure the serviceability of the structures.There are many reinforcing methods at present such as increasing member section, applying of pre-stress, externally adhering of steel-plate and sticking carbon fiber. The first two methods have such defects as complicate construction, long construction period, high cost and out of validity during reinforcing construction. Steel-bonded reinforcement is a technique using the mechanism of interaction between bonded steel plate and original structure to improve the performance of bending, shearing, torsion and compression. Steel-bonded reinforcement is one of the most widely used reinforcement methods due to the simple process, not affecting the appearance of structure, firmness and durableness, low price and short construction duration.The topic of this thesis is the theory and calculation methodology of steel-bonded reinforcement. Combined with the engineering practice of author, a steel-bonded reinforcement design for an aqueduct structure is carried out according to the specification of relating design code and principle of structural mechanics. Because of the deficiency of both the bending and oblique shearing capacity of cross-section of the aqueduct structure, both the flexural tension face in axial direction and the side face in normal direction of axes are steel-bonded. The analysis result of concrete stress and cracking under each case with ANSYS software for un-steel-bonded and steel-bonded structure also testify the security of the steel-bonded reinforcement.Through the calculating, analyzing and comparing, it can be seen that the steel-bonded reinforcement can increase the bending and shearing strength of structural member effectively, improve the status of concrete tension stress, preclude or limit the development of cracking in concrete.
