The area ratio of window to wall not only have a direct impact on the naturallight, but also have a great impact on air-conditioning and heating energyconsumption. So it is an important way of saving energy to determine the arearatio of window to wall by considering the total building energy consumption, which is made of the air-conditioning, heating, lighting and other types ofenergy consumption. Compared with the civil construction, a general industrialworkshop have extra roof lighting panels, sunk skylight and other forms ofnatural lighting. So more types of area ratio of window to wall need to bedetermined, which are important for energy saving of industrial workshop. Assome production processes have no special demand for indoor temperature andhumidity in cold area, there is no air-conditioning in summer for someworkshop. So natural and mechanical ventilation are the primary means forcooling. In the process of determining the area ratio of window to wall, theheating and lighting energy consumption are as the main research object, taking into account the indoor average temperature, which is caused byventilation in summerThe Energyplus software is chosen to simulate heating energy consumptionand average indoor temperature, and the lighting energy consumption issimulated by the Daysim, which is dynamic light environment simulationsoftware. To guarantee the accuracy, some tests are taken on to determine someconstruction boundary conditions. And the indoor illumination are validatedfor study. The research results show that the installation of lighting panels in the roof, can not only reduce total energy consumption of plant construction, but alsomake the best use of natural lighting to enhance the comfort . When its ratio is0.1, the workshop can receive good effect. The sunk skylight of high layout aremainly responsible for natural ventilation, but the upper temperature of tallworkshop is higher in winter, which make larger heat loss than north windowsof the same orientations. So its ratio should not be too large, and the best valueis about 0.2. Even in a large ratio, the east windows effect a little on savinglighting energy, so the ratio of 0.15 is suggested. Compared to the east windows, the west windows can receive more solar radiation, which isbeneficial for saving heating and lighting energy. North windows make thegreatest contribution to save lighting energy in the ratio of 0.2, but they stillcause a large heat loss in winter.
