The stability problem of reticulated shell often plays a controlling role in the structural design, especially for single-layer reticulated shell, and for the irregular shape reticulated shell, its stability is not easy to grasp, so more attention should be paid in the design. This article is based on the practical project of Museum of Contemporary Art and Planning Exhibition of Shenzhen, and static and dynamic stability of exterior reticulated shell is analyzed by general finite element analysis program ABAQUS.some useful conclusions are provided for practical project design.This article carried out eigenvalue buckling analysis for the reticulated shell in four different load cases, preliminary estimating the stability of the overall structure is good. On this basis, all course tracing of the stability analysis bases on geometric nonlinear and geometry material double nonlinear are carried out, and taking into account the different loading cases and the initial imperfections on the influence of structural stability, finally a contrast analysis is done for the exterior reticulated shell before and after optimum design. The analysis indicated that the overall stability of the reticulated shell meets the requirements of Technical specification for space frame structures, and it is insensitive to the geometrical initial imperfection. The stability of structure is relatively closed in four loading cases.The influences of material nonlinear on structural stability is very large.The stability of the structure is better after optimizing.This article further studies of the influences of the geometrical initial imperfection, introducing the first eighth order buckling mode and a higher order buckling mode as the distribution of initial imperfections respectively according to the ideas of consistent mode imperfection method, and carrying out geometry material double nonlinear stability analysis.It indicated that the structure is insensitive to the geometrical initial imperfection.Free vibration characteristics and the dynamic stability under earthquake of the structure are studied, then the different dimensions,the different earthquakes, and the effects of initial imperfection on dynamic stability are taked into account. Studies have shown that the seismic performance of the structure is good, and the failure of the structure is not dynamic instability but strength failure of structural member.
