For recent years, large diameter, light weight deployable antenna has become the research hotspot. Deployment is one of the key technique of antenna, however, the disadvantages of traditional mechanical drive mode greatly reduced the antenna's property. Shape Memory Polymer Composites, SMPC, has great potential and advantage deployment technique. Hot deformation process of thermally SMPC link is"heat folding- cooling deformation fixed- heated unfolding". SMPC link has high rigidity, strength and deformation force, as well as stable mechanical properties in space environment. With the finite element software, this paper designs the laminated shell structure, ends fixtures and heating mode for the SMPC hinge carried on the detailed.The paper designed a kind of new deploy driver, SMPC tape hinge, for an innovative Hoop Truss Deployable Antenna (HTDA). And the structural characteristics of the antenna are analysed.For antenna, folding and deploying nature of SMPC hinge is the key technique. This paper simulates the geometry nonlinear bending behavior of a self-deployable SMPC laminated tape based on ABAQUS. Analytical expressions for characterizing a general SMPC tape's response are also presented. The analysis results indicate that SMPC hinge has large recovery rate and force,high stability and reliability.According to the design goal and the advantages and disadvantages of of all kinds of antenna, this paper choose HTDA as antenna configuration and gives the detailed structural design for the antenna. Concretely, The choice of materials, drive components'assignment as well as key structures'designing such as self-locking hinges, booms and net surface device are given.In the last place, the finite element method was adopted for structural analysis of deployable antenna, that is static analysis and modal analysis. The results indicate that the stiffness and strength of hoop truss, and the stiffness of antenna system can meet the requirements. In a word ,it's proved that the structure design of HTDA is reasonable and credible.
