In a system combines many kind of energy consumers with generators such as buildings, taking advantage of the energy generated by electric equipments which can work on multi-quadrants, a systerm called power storage systerm has been proposed. Power storage systerm will redistribute the energy regenerated or generated by the devices of the whole systerm.First, Conceptual of power storage systerm is studied, the frame of the systerm and necessity of studying is expounded. By analyzing the working condition of power storage systerm and studying on the charging and discharging characteristic of Ultracapacitors, the advantage of using bi-directional DC-DC converter in the systern is obtained. The evolution and historical background of bi-directional DC-DC converter and model predictive control(MPC) are summarized.The topology of bi-directional DC-DC converter is studied. The mechanism and switching characteristic of the chosen topology is analyzed. The to solve the problem caused by shortcoming of the topology. Then, the parameters of the topology are designed. The topology is simulated by simulation software.The equivalent mathematical model of chosen topology is obtained. The control method of chosen topology is researched. The Short-Horizon MPC is proposed to control the chosen topology. The interference immunity and adapting to uncertain quantitative of Short-Horizon MPC are as good as classical MPC. Solving algorithm is much simpler and less time-consuming because of the short horizon. The problem will be solved in one switching cycle. The load identification is added to control method in order to get over the problem of systerm stability and response which caused by the short horizon. It enhances the robustnessof systerm. The control method proposed in this paper is compared with other classic methods by simulation. The conclusion of Short-Horizon MPC is better than the other method in chosen topology is obtained.In this paper, Short-Horizon MPC applying to bi-directional DC-DC converter is experimental studied, it turned out that chosen topology and control method proposed in this paper is effective and suitable for the power storage systerm is deduced.
