Distribution network is the link directly connected to users in the electric power system, and its operation reliability is significant for users. As the development of power system, distribution network automation is an inevitable outcome. Network topology analysis method and reconfiguration technology is the key part of study.According to the characteristics of distribution network, the models of devices are established based on object-oriented technology, and the initial network topology is automatically produced. Though node analysis, the whole topology process is composed by static production and dynamic tracking, which is realized by equivalent node analysis and substation island analysis. The method of BFS(Broad First Search) is applied in topology analysis. The proposed method can rapidly track the changed network structure and effectively improve the efficiency of topology analysis.Several reconfiguration technologies are introduced, including BEM(Branch Exchange Method), OFP (Optimal Flow Pattern) algorithm, SA (Simulated Annealing) algorithm, GA(Genetic Algorithm), ANN(Artificial Neural Network) algorithm, etc. The improved GA is determined for network reconfiguration. The system is simplified before generating the initial populations. Genetic operation includes selection, crossover and mutation. The combination of roulette wheel selection method and best individual preservation strategy is applied in selection operation. Crossover is operated between gene blocks with adaptive crossover rate, and mutation is operated in one gene block with adaptive mutation rate. The method of comparing the biggest evolution generation and the biggest best individual preservation generation is used to determine the end of genetic algorithm.Experimental results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
