Development of Fault Diagnosis System for Marine Diesel Engine As the heart of the vessel, the marine diesel engine is important to keep vessels'safety. Nowadays the marine diesel engine is developing towards high-power, high-power density and high-intelligence, fault diagnosing technology of the marine diesel engines is one of the key technologies of the modern intelligent diesel engines, so it is necessary to do some research on the fault diagnosis of marine diesel engine.Firstly, the paper introduces the status of research work on fault diagnosis technologies of marine diesel engine in and outside the country and gives some advice on its future development. In allusion to the shortage of the traditional fault diagnosis of marine diesel engine system which is based on off-line theory, we develop a new online diagnosis system. The paper first did some research on the expert base and reasoning technology and finally decided which one to use; then the diesel engine online fault diagnosis experimental prototype was made which solved the problems like frame design, function model design, communication interface design, programming between different languages and so on ,and based on the prototype we did a lot of function test, Finally, the online fault diagnosis system was improved for the YueHaiTie-ship and got used on the vessel.Considering the different working behaving on the different stages of the marine diesel engine, the paper made the fault forecast limit value and the alarm limit value changed automatically with the on-line training model. The improved system is more adaptable to the fault diagnosis of marine diesel engine.The paper also attempt to do some trend forecast research work to the diesel engine working status parameters which is based on time series analysis and neural network theory. The improved system can give some fault forecast information if it is necessary which is helpful to maintain the diesel engine.The fault diagnosis of marine diesel engine system finally got used on YueHaiTie united power monitor system . The result showed out that this fault diagnosis system can do the online diagnosis work to the marine diesel engine working parameters and fulfill the primary function of online training and trend forecast. The fault diagnosis of marine diesel engine system can give some advice on the sailors'daily maintain job effectively.
