In the past century, human's uncontrolled exploitation of groundwater has caused more and more surface subsidence all over the world.As a kind of widespread geological hazards, surface subsidence can seriously affect and damage the constructions,e.g. in coal mine industry squares, surface subsidence would lead to destruction of main and auxiliary shaft wall,and then cause a threat to coal mine safety.Taking XUTUAN coal mine for example,the paper builds non-ming headframe foundation and industry square surface subsidence monitoring system based on principles and methods of settlement monitoring.According to National second order leveling method,three times overall observations for subsidence monitoring network have been carried out,and the secondary network lasts for 9 periods. After processing the observational data with adjustment, the results are got,so that the maximum of the main and auxiliary shaft headframe foundations substructure settlement is 8.5mm and 12mm, the maximum settlement difference 1.3mm and 3.3mm.The paper introduces modelling principles and predicting methods of GM(1,1) analysis model and part coupling model based on quasi three-dimensional Based on grey system theory, GM(1,1) equal-dimension and new-information model is built with the result that the maximum of predicting data residual error of the main and auxiliary shafts headframe foundations substructure settlement is 2.4mm and 2.3mm, mean 0.25mm and 0.27mm. The accuracy of model reaches the highest level. According to soil mechanics theory,part coupling model based on quasi three-dimensional is built.With the soft Processing Modflow's simulation and prediction for industry square surface subsidence,the results are calculated,so that the cumulative subsidence from the well beginning to March 2011 is approximately 230mm; get the experience formula W=0.0025.P2-0.785.P+317 (W means maximal sinkage of industry square, and P means total exploitation per hour of 4 wells)by simulating and analyzing the relationship between well exploitation and maximal sinkage,and R2=0.991, which means the fitting degree is good, which proves the main caurse of industry square surface subsidence is excessively mining groundwater (mainly pumping from the 3rd aquifer and draining happens in the 4th aquifer);from March 2011 to March 2012, the average subsidence of industry square surface is 11mm by predicting.
