Stability issue is frequently encountered in bridge analysis, which is one of the main issues that related to the safety and the economy of the structure, and has the same important significance as strength issue. In this thesis, a scheme in the preliminary design of Taohuayu bridge is taken as engineering background. The stability and the ultimate bearing capacity that considering geometrical non-linearity and material non-linearity of the structure are discussed. Also, the comparison on the stability and the ultimate bearing capacity considering double non-linearity of the deck arch bridge is done.Firstly, the related theory of the stability and the ultimate bearing capacity of bridges are presented. The classification and the finite method of the geometrical non-linearity, the finite method and yield criterions of the material non-linearity, convergence criterions and solving methods of the non-linearity issue are also introduced. All these suggest the necessity of stability analysis for the combined structural system bridge.Secondly, the dead load equilibrium state and the transfer mechanism of the combined structural system bridge under live load are reserached based on the deflection theory. Then, the stability and the analytical approaches of the structure are discussed. The conclusions should be useful in the design and analysis of the combined structural system bridge.Finally, the finite element software ANSYS is adopted to study the linear elastic stability, the geometric non-linearity stability and the ultimate bearing capacity considering the geometrical and material nonlinearity of the combined structural system bridge, also the influence of initial imperfection on the structure is researched. Then, the same analysis is also adopted on the deck arch bridge with the same span in order to find out the differences between the stability of these two structures. The conclusions provide some references on studying the operation management of the combined structural system bridge.The dead load equilibrium state and the transfer mechanism of the combined structural system bridge under live load are reserached in this thesis. Meanwhile, the theorical method of stability analysis for this structure is introduced. Also, the finite element method is adopted to study the stability and ultimate bearing capacity of the combined structural system bridge. These methods and conclusions will be of some value to design, calculation and operation management of the combined structural system bridge.
