Road network infrastructure is the city's most important lifeline systems. A variety of unusual events will reduce the service capacity of transport system, and affect the economic life of society. The ability of transport network to withstand lack of abnormal events is not strong enough, and it is one of the most important reason which cause huge losses to people who use the transport system. Such is the vulnerability characteristics of the transport network. If we analyze the vulnerability of the transportation system we will find bottlenecks in the transport network, so we also can kow the corresponding improvement. Scholars have created different traffic-related model under micro or macroscopic view, to simulate different types of disasters in a certain level of accuracy, which can greatly contribute to the analysis of transport networks vulnerability.In this thesis, I will study the transport network vulnerability assessment, and use vulnerability analysis of the transport network in transport network planning using the vulnerability theory. In this study, TransCAD software has been used as a tool for traffic simulation to predict and calculate the traffic flow on road networks. Then I use the network vulnerability theory to evaluate the of transportation network vulnerability, then I evaluate the road network based on the vulnerability of transport networks. The study evaluate different network program based on experimental network using vulnerability assessment theory. The evaluation results can provide a scientific basis for decision making for the road network management and planning. Finally, future research has been discussed.
