Pipe pile is one of most widely used forms of foundation. Though much advantage it owns, there also exist many problems, in which low horizontal bearing capacity seems more serious. However, horizontal bearing capacity and its'influencing factors are studied less while vertical bearing capacity of pile is reseached relatively more. And so, it is necessary and important to do work on this aspect.To analyze influence of various factors on pile bearing capacity quantitatively, reliability theory is introduced in. Condition functions are established when load under critical load. And by deducing limit bending capacity formula, condition functions are founded when load between critical load and limit load. research are done in JC way by studying pile diameter, wall thickness, prestress, concrete level stirrups space and reinforcement ratio in shear mode and bending mode. Results show if below critical load, diameter and prestress are main factors that influence reliability index. There also exits an optimal wall thickness within which index decreases fast and beyond which reliability index increases slowly. If beyond ciritical load, in shear mode wall thickness and prestress have much impact on reliability index, and diameter and reinforcement are main factors that influence reliability index in bending mode. on the other hand, prestress and wall thickness have little impact on index. Results also present reliability indexs are smaller in bending mode than in shear mode. It is safe to consider bending capacity in pipe pile design. Conclutions are verified by studying sensitivity coefficients of different factors under various loads.Based on reliability analyse a new opotimizition design method is proposed. Safey and economic are considered when using this method.One example is studied to show the feasibility.
