| Assembly line is a widely used manufacturing system. One of the most importantissues in designing and managing an assembly line is the assembly line balancing, since ithas a great effect on the productivity of the manufacturing system. Thus, during the lastone hundred year, extensive study on assembly line balancing has been conducted, andvarious solutions and algorithms are presented. Although China is a manufacturing country,the research on ALBP has not been paid much attention. And the assembly line balancingrates of many assembly lines are in the low level. So it is very meaningful to study onassembly line balancing problem theoretically.In this paper, firstly, the methods of industrial engineering are used to determine twoimportant data of assembly line balancing: the precedence relations and the standard worktime of basic work elements. Secondly, this paper presents a procedure of solving theassembly line balancing problem, which is based on the tabu search algorithm. Meanwhile,Matlab is used for programming to solve the ALB problem. At last, for example RFScompany's base station antenna assembly line, the tabu search algorithm proposed in thispaper is used to solve the ALBP, and the good results are achieved. |
