In order to choose the main landing gear layout of the large-scale amphibious aircraft in the conceptual design, three layout formats, that is bulge on the fuselage format, bulge on the wing root format and extensional beam format, were proposed to compare each advantages and disadvantages. As a result, the bulge on the fuselage format is chosen as the best format and the extensional beam format is the better one. This paper summarized the layout, damping system and flotation in the conceptual design of the landing gear.The three-step type and trailing-arm type retraction and extension mechanism were designed to realize the motion of the bulge on the fuselage format and the extensional beam format. Furthermore, both models were designed by CATIA and kinematics performances analyzed by ADAMS/View. Moreover, the torsion lock was designed to coordinate the motion of the three-step type. The basic dynamic theory was applied to build the landing dynamic model of the landing gear. ADAMS/Aircraft was used to build the drop virtual-type protocol to give the analysis of landing simulation performance of the main landing gear.Finally, the landing gear conceptual parameter design system was fundamentally set up by Visual Basic and Access, to improve the efficiency of the landing gear conceptual design.
