DT (Ⅱ) stationary belt conveyor is general series product, which can be widely used in metallurgy, coal, transportation, power, building materials, chemical, food and mechanical industries. In the model building process for belt conveyor, it is common to repeat emergence the same structure or the similar size parts, such as roller, roller, axial parts, etc. The traditional design method is to design the part separately, which occupies the most time and energy of the designers and affects the product development cycle seriously. And it is also restricted the enterprise technological progress and sustainable development. It usually uses the traditional static design method to design and select the belt conveyor. For increasing the safety factor of the belt to ensure the work reliability, it is not perfect in considering the dynamic characteristics of the working belt conveyor.The building of belt conveyor virtual prototype, different from the individual parts virtual prototype, it not only has the rigid frames but also has the flexible parts. This paper introduces the main characteristics of belt conveyor, virtual prototype technology theory basis and the basic hypothesis of virtual prototype model, and analyzes the main factors which influence the dynamic characteristics of belt conveyor. With the new generation mixed rigid multi-body system dynamics analysis software - RecurDyn, it chooses the most representative DT (Ⅱ) belt conveyor to study the building model and the dynamic characteristic simulation for belt conveyor.According to the design line strictly is to do this research. It is to establish the belt conveyor drive roller parametric design system with using the Solid/Works own VBA language and Access database, which can simplify the work largely only to input the necessary parameters to get the modeling.In the virtual environment of RecurDyn software, it can do the Simulation analysis by fixing the tension sensor in the key places to imitate the field conditions, and it can compare the sensor date to the theoretical date to test the correctness of virtual prototype. It also established the single roller drive virtual prototype simulation experiment platform, and comparatively studied the starting and accelerating curve, minimum start time tension device control and the influence which the belt speed gave to the belt conveyor dynamic tension.
