The Xiushan tunnel of the Yu-Meng Railroad with a length of 10302 m, is one of the key point controls of the project. With very short work period and very complex hydrology geology and geology conditions, the tunnel will pass through 3 faults,2 synclines and 1 anticline. There are many high pressure rich water areas, with developed fissure water in bedrock,. Investigate and design predict that there will be much water in the area. Among which Wulijing syncline area will have a 23500 m 3/d normal amount of water with the biggest water quantity of 35250 m 3/d. And geology disaster such as water burst and chung mud will probably occur during construction, which shall threaten construction safety. The Xiushan tunnel lies in Tonghai County, Yunnan province, with rich plants in the surface and a surface river on the tunnel export segment, which need higher request to protection of groundwater and surface water.This text will discuss water burst and chung mud, tube-roof pre grouting and the curtain grouting techniques of Xiushan tunnel, which not only ensure the construction period, but also protect the groundwater and surface water.This text emphasized introduction pre grouting processing of the high pressure rich water district, hole cross section curtain grouting technique, advance geological forecast of tunnel heading with various geological drilling and geophysical prospecting methods. According to the principle of "early forecast, early defence, early settlement", grouting processing of the high pressure rich water district solved the problem of water burst and chung mud during construction, for safely passing through water burst, collapse empty and high pressure rich water districts.
