Power Electronics Technology is an interdisciplinary subject composed by electronics, electrodynamics, and control theory. When the integration density of power electronic devices escalated, the density of heat flow rate increased steadily. So we need more efficient thermal control to meet the threats of that hot temperature environment will affect the performance of electronic devices. Nowadays, the study of effective heat dissipation for power chips becomes one of the most important issues in the field of power electronics. Integrated power electronic module generated a lot of heat working at full capacity for a long time, and power loss is a small proportion of total power input. Secondly, power chips got close to the maximum allowable exotherm in thermal control experiment, and they were damaged easily, that increased the cost of experiments virtually.In view of this, we raised a new proposal of designing the thermal equivalent device based on integrated power electronic module. It was an innovation that, the heat productivity of analog power chip can be controlled by integrating electrical control with mechanical control, in order that thermal equivalent device generates heat just the same as real integrated power electronic module does.According to energy conservation, we can analyze the transient thermal response of simulated heating chip during the experiment after the design. This thermal equivalent device could be tested by Liquid Cooling Test System of Micro-channel Based on Substrate for Integrated Power Electronics Modules. And the data acquisition is regarded as the basis of further improving test system. Finally, we introduced two methods for estimating thermal losses in the experiment for the purpose of further improving the accuracy of this equivalent.The designed heat facility can be used in the study of power electronic devices thermal control system, in stead of the real integrated power electronic module, and it is easy to be controlled, economical, so it reduces the cost of experiment effectively.
