This paper launched a systematic research on the performance of the asphalt pavement, the base of which are graded crashed gravel in haixi of qinghai region with dry climate, small traffic and rich resources of gravel.On the basis of investigation and inspection to Danglenghua Lvhuang and Gemang highway, the asphalt pavement performance with graded gravel and cement stabilized sand gravel are evaluated by using the pavement evaluation systems of our country and COST354,and then the conclusions are made.Based on the analysis to its performance influencing factors, the model which is avaible to the asphalt pavements with graded crushed stone base and cement graded gravel base is established and the prediction is also made.Through mechanic analysis, mechanical characteristics of the asphalt pavement structure are identified and the stress and strain re sponse is also learned when the thickness and modulus of the pavement structure change.By appling the variance analysis method, parameters influencing structure stress and strain are analyzed and the pavement structure design principles can be get.By analyzing factors influening the strength of graded crushed gravel material, grade is optimized and filling graded broken gravel design method is put forward; Through the comparison to the mechanical performance of materials with or without clay,influences of clay to the graded crushed gravel stone mechanical performance are analyzed;Through the analysis to different dosage of crushed stone,influence to the mechanical property is studied and mechanical performance is also obtained.Finally, the material dosage recommendation range and CBR control to different climate and traffic load level are made.Through field investigation, soil base level and traffic level are divided. Typical highways structure based on different traffic volume and different soil base level is put forward.Finally, economic index to asphalt pavement with crushed stone base and semi-rigid base is quantitated,which shows that economic applicability of the pavement structure is very good.
