Research-based The Map Overlays Law Nanning City Narrative Space

The emergence of the spatial narratology may combines the narratology and the correlative theory of urban design. According to the theory of spatial narratology, the urban buildings, squares, blocks and other elements can be regarded as narrative spaces. From the macro point of view, the city itself is a big narrative space. In this article, the map superposition analytical method is the research method, and the connection of quantitative superposition analysis and qualitative research is quite suitable for urban narrative space research. The subject of study is old downtown of Nanning city, attempt by the analysis of old downtown of Nanning city to grasp its characteristic and essence and dig out the deep meaning of urban space. Enriching and studying the theory of urban narrative space in the deep-going way to provide reference for contemporary urban design and planning.The article is divided into three parts, the main contents of first part including the first and the second chapter are following:elaborating the map superposition method and theoretical research condition of urban narrative space, focusing evaluation on studying the meaning and method of map superposition method and introducing detailedly the urban narrative space research method-map superposition method. By studying this method of urban narrative space and found that this research is not mature, there are many defects often were overlooked in previous study can be improved, such as historical periods, map selection and the definition of research scope.The second part of article includes the third chapter and the fourth chapter aims at mostly three neglected parts above:historical periods, map selection and the definition of research scope. The part takes the old downtown of Nanning city as the example to analyze and study.The third part includes the fifth chapter to the seventh chapter, the main content is to study narrative space of old downtown of Nanning city with the map superposition method, to indicate narrative elements of various periods in the corresponding urban history map and study their visible range and get the distribution situation of urban visible range in various periods, then analyze their visual structure and overlay visible range of all historical periods, and obtain the visible range of urban diachrony. Next, indicating the urban major event elements in the map and analyzing narrative space structure of urban event. At last, overlaying the visible range maps of each urban period and urban event maps to get the overall urban narrative space structure. To study the superimposed intensively areas in the overall structure and then grasp urban narrative space structure and characteristic in two perspectives of macro and micro.The fourth part is the conclusion summarizes and extracts the characteristics of urban narrative space construction for old downtown of Nanning city and points out the guidance meaning of national urban transformation with the narrative space research.
