| Rock mass quality classification is a general study method for rock mass characteristics. It's not only a method of studying the quality of rock mass but also a method of characterizing rock mass properties. Besides, it's still the basis of stablity analysis, so rock mass quality classification is considered as a bridge between Engineering Design and Rock Engineering. For many important rock engineering projects, rock mass quality classification from multi-views is requested. It means that the work has to be repeated in every single process. Moreover, the procedures in current rock mass quality classification are not perfect enough. To address the problem, an automatic classification program is essential and urgent in rock mass quality classification field.Rock Mass Quality Classification methods widely used in the world currently is summarized in this paper, including rating index, application conditions and so on. A program regarding three basic rock mass quality classification-RMR, BQ and Q system is designed and implemented by using Visual C++ Development Environment, which make the three classifications'methods can be done automatically. Also, some equations between each classification method and rock mechanical parameters including deformation modulus, cohesion and internal friction angle is established. Through inputting rating index of rock mass quality classification, the results for classification and corresponding rock mechanical parameters can be quickly obtained. Besides, it is very easy to inquiry results by providing users a saving function.At the end, a case study on Rock Mass Quality Classification from Maerdang high arch dam located at upstream of the Yellow River is introduced and analyzed in order to test and evaluate the reliability, accuracy and usability of the designed program. Detailed comparisons are completed among different classification methods.and some useful relationships are achieved. |
