Plate and strip is an important rolled product, demands for the quality of plateand strip product is getting higher and higher with the development ofproductive forces and advance of science and technology, especially thedemands for its accuracy of geometric dimensions is more rigorous. Thickness isone of the most important dimensions quality indicators of strip-shaped steel,and improving thickness accuracy of the cold, hot-rolled strip has beenrelentlessly pursued by the rolled steel workers, and also been motivator forprogress to promote the rolling technological. The development of automaticgauge control (AGC) system has made tremendous contributions to improvestrip thickness accuracy. The applications of AGC technology can improveproduct quality and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Control of thethickness of the plate strip rolling is the critical control link of the strip rollingmill. With the constantly development and application of automatic gaugecontrol system, the form of automatic gauge control is becoming manifold.Subject to the design theory and technology of metallurgical equipment, AGCupgrade on350mm four roller experiment mill in the Key Laboratory of Shanxiprovince, through theoretical analysis and control model improvements andnumerical simulation, on-site experiments, a series of work has completedinclude upgrade work on four-roll mill automatic gauge control system, andachieved desired results.First the paper analyzes the factors that affect the thickness of the plate stripin the rolling process, introduces the basic form of automatic gauge control,mainly researches the control principle and characteristics of pressure AGCcontrol model; Second, subject to the parameters of the experimental rolling millequipment, compute the transfer function of the various control componentsthrough control model simulation, receive the corresponding parameters and themodel results and apply the simulation results on the actual control system of themill; then accord to the control principle of the model and the requirement ofexperiments, write the corresponding automated control programs and man-machine interface, and their respective functions in the experiment hasbeen well realized; zero roll tone calm and roll seam has been made a detailedadjustment, coefficient of the mill stiffness and rolling plastic has beenmeasured and calculated accurately, detailed rolling experiments andcomparative analysis has made on the three pressure AGC and summarizes theexperimental results, verified the characteristics of a thickness meter AGC,further proved the superiority of the dynamic AGC. The program of pressureAGC control model has been fully proved to be reasonable and practicable bythe simulation analysis and experimental comparison. The thickness controlsystem of four roll strip rolling mill in laboratory has been improved to someextent with introduction of pressure AGC control model, this paper also make afoundation for the study of thickness control system of our lab.
