The hoop orientation degree of PVC-O pipes closely related to themacro-mechanical properties of the pipes. the higher orientation degreealong the hoop direction means the better mechanical properties of thePVC-O pipes. Due to this reason, the characterization along the hoopdirection have a very important practical significance for the productionof PVC-O pipes.In view of the blank of the on-line detection of the hoop orientationdegree of PVC-O pipes, this article will introduce the Rayleigh wave ofnon-destructive field to the orientation detection of fiber by the soundvelocity method, advance to use Rayleigh waves to detect the hoopdirection of the PVC-O pipes. The method is verified by the resultscorrelation between the off-line longitudinal wave detection and Rayleighwave detection. With the growing acknowledgment of the Rayleigh wavedetection, the uniform of the orientation along the hoop direction will bestudy. The process of the preparation consisted of:1. A new method for the orientation degree detection along the hoop direction by Rayleigh wave was designed and determine the determinethe specific experimental program. Successfully get the signal ofRayleigh wave propagated along the hoop direction by the appropriateassistive devices design. Determine the calculation method for the speedof Rayleigh wave. The speed has related with the propagation depth inthe radial direction of Rayleigh wave.2. Analysis the feasibility of Rayleigh wave detection by the speedcomparison between the off-line longitudinal wave detection andRayleigh wave detection. The result shows the Rayleigh wave detectionhas good adaptiveness to the orientation degree detection of PVC-O pipes.Determine the relevant parameters of the Rayleigh wave detection duringthe experiment. Analysis the uniformity of the hoop orientation of thePVC-O pipes.3. In collaboration with relevant units to set up the experimentalplatform, to provide a specific detection method, detection requirementsand support the related detection equipment. Evaluate the longitudinalwave detection system. Detect the extrusion samples by the use ofcommercial ultrasonic tester and the tester designed by related units,compare the speed to analyze the results of the system.
