Hyperbranched polymers have highly branched three dimensional space structure,so they have the performance of intermolecular entanglements less, good solubility,low viscosity,easy film formation and high reaction activity.The peripheral ofhyperbranched polymers contain lots of terminals which can be modified.Afterhyperbranched polymers are modified, if they are used in UV curable coating, theycan not only reduce the viscosity, improve the performance of film, such as hardness,flexibility,impact resistance,etc., but also reduce the content of VOC in the coatings,can meet the requirements of environmental protection.This paper study themodification of hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polymer.Though hyperbranchedpolymer as matrix and they are grafted with various functional groups and functionelements. So the last modified polymers have special properties,can be applied to manykinds of coating systems.In this research,though the materials of diethanolamine and methyl methacrylateto obtain arm monomer N,N'-dihydroxyethyl-3-amino methyl propionate by themethod of michael addition reaction.Though pentaerythritol as the core by the methodof quasi-one-step to synthesis the first generation and the second generationhydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polymer.At reaction temperature of40℃, themolar ratio of diethanolamine and methyl methacrylate is1:1.5, reaction time of4h,the yield of arm monomer is highest. The best reaction temperature ofhydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polymer is125℃,the best reaction time for thefirst generation is2.5h, the second generation is5h. Thought the methods of infraredspectroscopy (IR) and TGA,this research analysis and test the structure andperformance of polymer. The research shows that the second generation ofhydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polymer is decomposed at the temperature of270℃, and two generations of hyperbranched polymer can dissolve into manyconventional organic solvents.Though the reaction of toluene2,4-diisocyanate(TDI) with methyl acrylate-β-hy-droxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl acetone (HMPP),this research obtain two functional monomers,one be named TDI-HEMA with adouble bond and anther be named TDI-HMPP with a trigger group.After the twofunctional monomers modified with the second generation hydroxyl-terminatedhyperbranched polymer,this research obtain hyperbranched UV self-initiatedpolymer(PM-UV).The best reaction condition of PM-UV is at temperature of80℃for5h.By the methods of infrared spectroscopy (IR) and TGA,this study analysis and test the structure and performance of polymer. The research shows that, PM-UV isdecomposed at the temperature of400℃,the gel content can achieve80%after curing.Different proportion monomers modified PM-UV all have good film performance ifcuring with UV.If HDDA as the active diluents, after diluting and during, thecomprehensive performance of paint film is best.Though the reaction of toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI) and tetrabromobisphemolA(TBA) to synthetic isocyanate sealed bromine contained monomer (TDI-TBA).Tho-ugh2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and TDI-TBA to synthetic isocyanatesealed activated monomer (HEMA-TDI-TBA),at last though with the isocyanate ofHEMA-TDI-TBA to modified with PM-2, get the bromine carbon modifiedhyperbranched resin (PM-TDI-TBA-HEMA) which has a double bond.The bestreaction condition of PM-TDI-TBA-HEMA is at temperature of80℃for4.5h.By themethods of IR,TGA and LOI to analysis and test the structure and performance ofpolymer.The research shows that, different proportion monomers modifiedPM-TDI-TBA-HEMA are all decomposed at the temperature of490℃, all have goodflame retardancy, the maximum LOI is32. Different proportion monomers modifiedPM-TDI-TBA-HEMA are all have better film performance.If HDDA as the activediluents, after diluting and during, the comprehensive performance of paint film isbest.
