Abstract/Summary:
Because nano materials are applied widely, human contact with nano materials more and more, the study of the nanometer material's toxicity to cells makes important sence in preventing the diseases that caused by nano material. Nano materials can be enriched via the animal food chain to do harm to higher animals. And the protozoa are the at the bottom of the animal food chain. So research the effect of TiO2nanoparticles on Euplotes eurystomus and Urostyla grandis to have an insight into the nanometer material's toxicity to environment and cells.1The effect of TiO2nanoparticles on Euplotes eurystomusThe Euplotes eurystomus were exposed to TiO2nanoparticles whose particle size were25nm and100nm in different concentrations and hours to know the effect of nano-TiO2on cell's generation. And the delicate ultrastructure were observed by using transmission electron microscopy. The results show that two sizes TiO2nanoparticles can't kill the cell, but two sizes TiO2nanoparticles can inhibit the generation of the cells, and the cells were more sensitive to100nm TiO2. The nanoparticles were in the Food vacuoles. There was a deformation in the chondriosomes and nucleolus. Maybe this is the reason why the TiO2nanoparticles inhibit the generation of the cells.2The effect of TiO2nanoparticles on Urostyla grandisThe Urostyla grandis were exposed to TiO2nanoparticles whose particle size were25nm and100nm in different concentrations and hours to know the effect of nano-TiO2on cell's generation. And the delicate ultrastructure were observed by using transmission electron microscopy. The results show that two sizes TiO2nanoparticles can't kill the cell, but two sizes TiO2nanoparticles can inhibit the generation of the cells. The nanoparticles were in the Food vacuoles, And the chondriosomes was damaged. The autophagic vacuole was produced to clear up the nanoparticles after being treated by25nm TiO2. There are many mucocysts in the cells after being treated by100nm TiO2. Maybe the appearance of autophagic vacuole and mucocysts is one defense reaction of Urostyla grandis.Comparing to25nm TiO2, Euplotes eurystomus are more sensitive to100nm TiO2. But different ciliates have different ractions to the same nano-TiO2.
