| Recently, the researches of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS)/Polymer nanocomposites and nanohybrids have received considerable attention The incorporation of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) into polymer has emerged as unique route to prepare high-performance composites. The POSS component can be incorporated through either simple melt/solution blending or can be chemically incorporated through the use of functionalized POSS monomers. An ongoing concern is focused on studying the structure-property relationships of POSS-polymers.Incorporation of nanosized POSS macromers into polymers at molecular level has produced significant improvement in mechanical strength, thermal and oxidative resistance as well as reduction in fiammability of several POSS-based polymers. Development of new POSS-based polymer nano-hybrids has a very important academic significance and practical value.In this thesis, the PBS/PEO-POSS nanocomposites were prepared by dissolving PBS and PEO-POSS in chloroform. The effect of PEO-POSS on the crystallization, thermal, and mechanical properties as well as the relationship between structure and properties of PBS was carefully studied. Then, a series of poly(butylene succinate)/Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane random copolyesters were synthesized and the relationship between structure and properties of the copolyesters was investigated in depth. |
