Magnetic materials have been receiving intense research interest since they play important role in our lives. The study of synthesis, structure and properties of the octacyano bridged transition metal complexes, which is composed of octacyano metal salt [M(CN)8]4-, is currently a new hot topic with great prospects even though it is a challenge in the meantime. In this thesis, K4[M(CN)8](M=Mo, W) and TCNQ-Li were selected as building blocks to react with transition metal complexes to form octacyano bridged coordination complexes as single molecule magnets through weak coordination interactions. Meanwhile, we also explored the characterizations and magnetic properties of these complexes. This paper has included the following works:1. Syntheses and characterizations of two ligands (HL and HPYP) and their complexes with transition metal ions (M=Cu,Mn,Co,Ni) as well.2. Syntheses and characterizations of K4[M(CN)8](M=Mo, W) and TCNQ-Li as building blocks with cyanic anion. Reactions of these building blocks with above prepared transition metal complexes to produce octacyano bridged coordination complexes. Relevant structurally characterizations and property studies are performed as well.3. Growing single crystals through methods like volatilization, barrier diffusion and hydrothermal process. |
