Welding technology as an important material processing technology in the manufacturing industry has been more widely used. While people demanded more and more for welding technology, hoping to get a high quality, efficient and low cost, wide application of welding technology. With the continuous progress of science and technology, hybrid welding method began to appear in various enterprises. Compared with conventional welding methods, Hybrid welding had a large weld penetration, high process stability, high efficiency and small welding deformation, which could greatly improve the welding efficiency and welding quality. Combined double TIG-MIG arc belongs to hybrid welding method which can effectively increase the weld penetration, reduces distortion , improve the mechanical properties of the weld.Double arc system has been designed on experiments so that the two torch angle, distance and position can be adjusted, two torches are equipped with independent power supply. When welding, control the MIG arc ignition first then ignited TIG arc. Watching the different combinations of double torch arc striking, arc stability and extinction processes by high-speed camera system, determine the best process parameters and the combination form of welding torch.Paschen's law was used to analysis using a MIG arc provided in the conductive channel, TIG arc breakdown path, hybrid welding arc process was identified. Double arc system at different arc path of the wok piece temperature field was simulated to observe the weld pool shape. The tensile test had been done of welded joints after welding, to compare the effect of different from the arc path for the mechanical properties of welding joints.Test samples were obtained from weld joint with different welding current for analyses. Then they would be pre-ground, polished and corroded for measuring depth and width of molten pool. The optimal process specification was determined by comparison.The results showed that: when angle of two gun is 60°, the distance is 10mm, and MIG shielding gas flow rate is15L/min, welding current of MIG is 180A, arc voltage is 25V; TIG shielding gas flow rate is 20L/min, welding current of TIG is 50A, TIG arc is generated between tungsten electrode and the workpiece. At the same time the double arc are produced stable, which have with good effect of warming-up. It make weld bead more deep penetration and better mechanical properties.
