Traditional magnesium alloy melting process is that crude magnesium were smelt firstly as pure magnesium ingots, then magnesium alloy were refined by adding alloy elements after pure magnesium ingots were melted, but this method will waste more time, cost and effort. Nanjing Sea of Clouds special metal limited company and Shenyang University of Technology joint to study melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium together, it will make efforts to solve this problem.Mechanical properties and inclusions of smelting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium in the laboratory and commercial melting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium were analyzed in this paper,to determine whether inclusions can be reduced by using filters device, taking into accout whether without refining agents or less refining agents were added to produce better performance products than commercial melting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium. As it is possible,it is to achieve the reduction step of the process, to shorten the process, to increased productivity and to reduce production.The experimental results show that the proper processing parameters of melting magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium are obtained that refining temperature is 740℃, pouring temperature is 720℃and use blowing argon processing, Under the processing parameters the filter effect of iron wire net is the best. For melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium with filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory, its tensile strength of 184.82MPa and elongation of 8.1% is higher than tensile strength of 181.82MPa and elongation of 7.7% of commercial melting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium.And tensile strength and elongation of melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium without filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory is respectively 154.31MPa and 6.65% and they are the worst. Impact toughness of melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium with filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory is 7.56J/cm2,and it is higher than impact toughness of 6.95 J/cm2 of commercial melting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium. And impact toughness of melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium without filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory is 4.99J/cm2, its impact toughness is the worst.Corrosion resistance of smelting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium with filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory is the best,commercial melting AM60 magnesium alloy directly from crude magnesium is poorer,and melting AM60 magnesium alloy ingots directly from crude magnesium without filtering and ultrasonic treatment in the laboratory is the worst. Inclusions can be divided into metallic inclusions and non-metallic inclusions in two categories. Inclusions are in all shapes and sizes, including diamond shape, triangle shape, rectangular shape, spherical shape, clusters shape and so on. Inclusions mainly include MgO,Al2O3,SiO2,CaCl|2,KCl,NaCl,KCl metal oxide or metal chloride and some MgS magnesium matrix sulfide and MnAl6 metal compounds.
