Titrimetry is the classic analytical method in chemical analysis, in the light of some inherent imperfection of manual titration such as time-consuming, tedious and detection of end point by human eye, with the development of technology, the replacement of manual titration by automatic titration has become a potential trend. Optical detection technology has played a important role in modern chemical Analytical instrument, if used in automatic titrimeter, maybe it can become a an alternative means in detection of end point to replace the human eye.According to the research on photoelectric titration electrode in domestic and abroad, a new automatic titrimeter that utilizes color sensor as titration electrode and can fit for many chemical reaction groups is brought up. With the way of detecting end point by human eye, the processing model of color sensor output signal is developed, and the method of detecting end point is discussed preliminarily.Depending on the detection principle, automatic titrimeter system is designed in detail. To fit for the need of application, light source, optical element, color sensor, electric burette and Stirrer are chosen, the driver circuit of peristaltic pumps and the detecting circuit of color sensor are designed for microcontroller. The software of data collecting and processing is programmed to fit for the PC. Both the theoretical analysis and the results of tests in typical chemical reaction prove that the automatic titrimeter fit for the desired function.
