Study On The Preparation Of Flexible Graphite Composites

In this paper, being directed against the safety problems cased by corrosion about chemical machinery, we carried out a research on a new corrosion resistant material-flexible graphite composites. During the experiments, the author mainly researched the formula materials and moding process of flexible graphite composites, exploring the influence of those factors as the different rate of additives, forming temeperature and foming pressure, on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of flexible graphite composites. Meanwhile, the author summarized the preparation process of flexible graphite composites sheet with a high strength. We can get following results:(1) A small amount of additives A or B to join a flexible graphite sheet can greatly enhance the mechanical properties of materials, and the density can have a larger increase. We can sum up that using A as additive, the content of A is 3～10%, the molding temperature is 500-900℃, and the molding pressure is 15-25MPa. Also we can get that using B as additive, the content of B is 5-15%, the molding temperature is 800～1200℃, the molding pressure is 21～30MPa.(2) The advantage of using mixed additives is that the performance of flexible graphite composite sheets can be improved from various aspects. We need control total amount of mixing additive in the range of 10～20%, forming temperature in the range of 800～1200℃, and forming pressure in the range of 21-30 MPa.(3) Carbon fiber on mechanical strength of the material has significantly improved, but little density increased. We need control adding amount in 0.5～1%, the forming temperature in the range of 600-800℃, molding pressure in the range of 18～25 MPa.(4) Forming temperature on the properties of flexible graphite composite quality plays a crucial role; we need accord to the binder to reasonably determine the molding temperature and heating system.(5) Flexible graphite has a excellent corrosion resistance.According to our experiments, we know that containing A, B additives of flexible graphite sheet has a poor corrosion resistance than pure flexible graphite sheet in the medium of acid and alkali, but its corrosion-resistant properties have not changed in other medium.
