Retrospective Assessment On Environment And Society Of Xin'an Jiang Reservoir

With the concerns of social development and environmental issues, the constructions of dams and large reservoirs are facing great challenges on ecology and environmental protections. In this thesis, the researches on social benefits and environmental impacts are taken based on the Xin'anjiang hydropower station. At the same time, the evaluation index of ecological effects for reservoirs and the economic post-evaluations, which considers the ecological benefits, are systematicly studied. Then, there is a comprehensive and correct understanding of the debate on the constructions of dams and the removals of dams, which can promote the sustainable development of China's hydropower constructions.The main conclusions of the thesis are summarized as following:(1) The article summaries the present situation and development of environmental impact assessment on our nation's water conservancy and hydropower projects systematically, highlights the significance of launching post-assessment on water conservancy and hydropower projects, and brings forward the working schemes of post-assessment on water conservancy and hydropower projects as well as establishes the assessing index system of reservoir's eco-environment.(2) According to investigation materials, the article totally reviews and analysis on the benefits and effects obtained from Xin'anjiang hydropower station's fifty years operation to date in economical, social and environmental perspectives.The results show that the Xin'anjiang reservoir generates notable economic and environmental benefits.(3) Methods of economical post-assessments on water conservancy and hydropower projects have been brought forward with a view of ecological benefits. The article develops the advantage and disadvantage analysis as well as economical post-assessments on Xin'anjiang hydropower station projects based on social environment investigation, and the results illustrate that the project has positive effects on national economic benefits and also plays an important role in the local and national development.
