In this paper, succinic anhydride preparation acted as the target reaction by selectively catalytic hydrogenation of maleic anhydride, Lin'an clay, E-zhou clay and Yixian clay as catalyst supporters, respectively. A series of catalysts probing into the target reaction were obtained with main active ingredient of Ni and doped reagent of different content such as Pt, Pd, Co and Cu. In the fixed-bed micro-reactor for catalytic reaction, the catalyst supporter, active ingredients, preparation conditions and reaction conditions were optimized screening. These catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), H2 temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) spectroscopy. The results show that the 5%wtNi/Lin'an clay catalysis prepared by impregnation has high catalytic activity. The active ingredient of Ni was present as NiO on the support. Too much of the calcination temperature will lead to the destruction of the support structure, the hydrogenation of MA showed that the catalyst calcined at 550℃gave the best results. By increasing the H2/MA molar ratio and/or increasing the H2 pressure and/or increasing the reaction temperature can improve has deactivates the activity of catalysis. Study on catalyst stability period demonstrated that whether the stability period existence or not was determined by the type of hydrogenation catalyst. The process appears that the catalytic activity can be further improved by adding a very small amount of Pt(0.01%wt), use of 5%wtNi-0.01%wtPt/Lin'an clay catalyst, the 100% conversion for MA and 100% selectivity for SA were obtained for MA hydrogenation at normal pressure. At low temperatures, reaction temperature on the catalytic activity and selectivity of great influence, but when the reaction temperature exceeds 110℃, then the conversion of MA and the selectivity of SA have no change.
