Corrosion is a kind of common defects in steel products. Especially steel corrosion occurring in conventional ain affects product quality and corporate image seriously.Actual state of wire rod corrosion, user's requirements and the main method of rust-proof of wire rod were surveyed. According to that, analysis and improvement aiming at corrosion and rust-proof method were focused on wire rod for tire cord, wire rod for steel fiber, and spring steel wire rod. Rustiness contrast of different surface conditions, different size and different controlled cooling process was done. The results showed that being exposed to the rain or humid environment of storage and transport, non-hermetic packaging, peeling of oxide scale were the main factors of wire rod corrosion. Through analysis of influencing factors, stowed location, stacking height, lifting tools, package manner, bundling pressure of wire rod for tire cord, wire rod for steel fiber, and spring steel wire rod were improved. The tests of controlled cooling process of wire rod for steel fiber were carried out, and the solution of improving oxide scale was provided.Improved process was standardized by putting into regulations for technology and agreements signed with suppliers. After being applied to large-scale production, users of wire rod for tire cord, wire rod for steel fiber, and spring steel wire rod gave feedback of significant improvement of wire rod corrosion. This provides a guarantee of expanding the application of Baosteel's wire rod and increasing market share.
