Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers have the organic flexible molecular chain. The UHMWPE fibers which has the linear chain structure and high orientation is one of the high performance fibers and have been used widely in the field of industry and other special areas.In this paper, UHMWPE/MMT nano-composites which had special structure were applied, so that the liquidity of UHMWPE was improved seriously. UHMWPE/MMT nano-composites were made into initial fibers by torque rheometer which could dominate the temperature. The temperature zone temperatures were 160℃,230℃,270℃,260℃. We can gain the top-quality fibers through the equipment which designed by ourselves. The influence of drawing temperature, drawing ratio and residence time on the final performance of the fibers also has been studied.The Monofilament tensile strength tester, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used in this subject for studying mechanical and morphological properties of the fibers. A series of methods, such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), and other methods were used to test the percentage crystallinity, melting temperature and other properties of the fibers.The experimental results showed that:the changes of fiber tensile strength with drawing temperature and drawing ratio had a maximum value. The top-quality fiber can be produced under the condition as:draw ratio 15, drawing temperature 85-90℃. There is a best residence time when the fibers pass through spinning cabinet. The best residence time is influenced by the heating media. Different heating media has different best residence time, it all depends on its heat transfer speed. Microstructure characteristics showed that the crystallinity and melting temperature of UHMWPE fiber were increased at the stage of drawing. The characteristics of the fibers which made by melt spinning process are similar to that made by gel spinning process。...
