Based on the research objects of the exhaust absorption technical processes with two kinds of methyl alcohol carbonyl methods for acetic acid installation, the thesis made some comparisons and analyses on their equipments, materials, flows, operation parameters, controlling points, etc., and found out the respective advantages, shortcomings and operation points, in order to provide the actual guidances for the design and production of acetic acid exhaust absorption installation. The thesis summarized the production flow and development history of acetic acid production with the methyl alcohol carbonyl methods for the exhaust absorption. And various technologies were mainly analyzed, calculated and compared in detail. When methyl alcohol was used as absorption solution, the rich solution could be used as raw materials, the treatment capacity was enhanced, the demand on the quality of materials was decreased and the pollutants were diminished.Nevertheless, the exhaust absorption needed low temperature methyl alcohol with about-15℃, and the comsumption of energies was increased. Under the condition of deviant running or shut-dwon, the regeneration was needed, the time from normal production to regeneration was increased, and the operation stability was less. When acetic acid was used as absorption solution, the regeneration was needed (even when the normal production was carried out), the comsumption of energies was increased, the demand on the quality of equipments was severe, the quantity of special materials was increased, and the treatment capacity was low. Nevertheless, the operation stability was better. The methyl alcohol method was superior to the acetic acid method. Therefore, it was considered that the methyl alcohol absorption method was a preferential method for the exhaust absorption from acetic acid installation.
