With the development of nano technology, combining nano technology with polymer research, it prepared nano polymer materials, promoting polymer materials to high performance, functional and biological direction. Nano-materials used in polymer modification, which is an important way to improve the performance of the polymer and also become research focus in recent years. Because of one-dimensional polymer with anisotropic characteristics, they have important study significance and application prospect in the optical, electrical and mechanical fields. Styrene-methylmethacrylate(St-MMA) copolymer inherit polystyrene and poly methylmethacrylate advantages, in addition, some performance improves. Nano rod-like St-MMA copolymer has not been reported, this paper studys its synthesis and its application to polymer modification. In this paper, we introduce emulsion polymerization, placing the whole system into external electric field, using SEM, IR, DSC and GPC and so on to analysis the prepared product, resulting is that the product is St-MMA copolymer, SEM shows dispersed nanorods, DSC test indicates that P(St-MMA) powder has relatively low glass transition temperature, and has a certain orientation. Then it study the effects of emulsifier and oil-water ratio on monomer conversion rate and so on, researching the impact of appiled field on the polymer. Next it studys sodium chloride growing along one-dimensional in emulsion, and getting needle-like crystals of sodium chloride.We put the coploymer powder into the polymer, not only can improve the compatiblility of the blends, and it can also change the tensile strength, impact strength and blending strength of polymer. This paper make PMMA's the notched impact strength increasing and blending strength adding, PP's tensile strength and blending strength promoting, PC's tensile strength getting better.
