To be able to response and occupy the market share timely, the companies facing global market competition and the changes of the customers'personalized needs look to the rapid prototyping, which has been a hotpot of the current manufacturing research while rapid manufacturing of metal parts is also a hot subject and target in today's rapid prototyping technology.In this article, metal rapid prototyping technology basing on electro-deposition technology makes good use of the similarities between the rapid prototyping and electro-deposition. The former forms based on discrete– accumulation while the latter based on the cathode deposition. Combining electro-deposition, rapid prototyping and digital control technology, it shapes directly and manufactures metal parts by Numerical Control Selective. We obtain, and obtained the following several aspects of achievements: The major conclusions got in this article through theoretical analysis and experimental researches are presented as follows:(1) A new direct metal rapid prototyping technology, in which electro-deposition and rapid prototyping are integrated, is developed basing on electro-deposition technology and develops experiment machines successfully refers to its characteristics.(2) Analyze the major factors that affect the deposition rate of electricity crystallization and deposition according to its basic theories and establish the theoretical model of this technology.(3) A large number of experiments for the influence of the parts'quality and speed through the appropriate parameters.(4) Made several copper parts successfully based on this technology in different current density conditions and analyzed detailedly what influence the current density made on the parts through the material mechanical properties test.(5) It's the first to combine the composite electro-deposition technology and rapid prototyping technology, giving a new method for composite metal parts and systematically studying the influence of sedimentary parts quality.
